Technically our week 2 NFL Playoff predictions went 3-1 last week, but I'll only be counting the Sunday games where we went 1-1 on the official record since I failed to submit the article in time due to writer error. ?Since I was unable to correctly click on the "submit" button on last week's article until I got back from work on Saturday I'll try to make sure the AFC and NFC Championship Game predictions are flawless. ?In all reality we are 7-1 with our playoff predictions, but the record will only indicate a record of 5-1 for the postseason just to ensure legitimacy. ?
Record against the point spread: 124-89
San Francisco 49ers -4 at Atlanta Falcons
The 49ers should roll here and I've made no attempt to hide the fact that I believe the Falcons are one of the most overrated teams in the NFL this year. ?Atlanta won't be able to run successfully here and quarterback Matt Ryan won't have time to find receivers downfield with constant blitzing pressure from San Francisco. ?The 49ers' offense is churning on all cylinders and Atlanta's defense isn't strong enough to slow them down much. ?It's generally a bad idea to take an inexperienced quarterback on the road in the playoffs, but Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers should win by double digits without too many roadblocks.
Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots -9
The Ravens looked pretty good in their come-from-behind win against the Denver Broncos last weekend, but the game showed that even with Ray Lewis back in the lineup they don't have a defense this year. ?New England should be able to put up 40 without much opposition, so this game will come down to whether or not the Ravens are capable of scoring big points. ?The Patriots' defense has shown that they are only strong if their offense has a lead, and I just don't see Baltimore's defense being good enough to stop New England from scoring early and often. ?New England scored 3 easy 1st quarter touchdowns, allows their defense to be at their best where they can take chances, and wins this game in a rout while covering the point spread.
